THIS IS US

Welcome to The Wandering Warmacks blog!

For those of you who don’t know us, allow me to introduce ourselves: my name is Ashley, and my husband, Hunter, and I have been married since 2020. We’re both from a small town outside of St. Louis and started dating when we were just freshmen in high school. We added a sweet addition to the Wandering Warmacks in January 2024: our son, Nolan.

The idea for Wandering Warmacks came about after our honeymoon to Hawaii in 2021. We started traveling again quite a bit, and my phone was full of pictures & videos from our trips. I didn't want to overwhelm my personal social media, so Hunter encouraged me to start a separate Instagram account. It's become a really fun passion project to share our experiences through blogs, pictures, and reels. I love to plan trips, and wanted to share any tips & cool attractions we come across. Most importantly, I wanted this to serve as a digital scrapbook for us to look back on and show our children.

In June 2023, we packed up everything we could into our minivan and headed out west for our long-awaited adventure. Early on in graduate school, we dreamed of pursuing travel Physical Therapy. Hunter took 13 week work contracts, allowing us to temporarily live all across the country. We’re very passionate about visiting all 63 U.S. National Parks and 50 states, and this opportunity aligned so well with helping us reach that goal.

It took a lot of planning, faith, and sacrifice, but we are so glad we can say " we DID that," than "we wish we had." From living in Oregon, Missouri, Arizona, Idaho, and Colorado, we visited more sights than we could have ever dreamed. And somehow, we managed to survive a pregnancy and raising a baby on top of it. We can't imagine our lives without all the experiences we endured and memories we made; it's truly made us who we are today.

In early 2025, we took a pause on our nomadic lifestyle and decided to settle down in upstate South Carolina.  We were looking for some stability while raising a family, and loved the proximity to the Smoky Mountains, North Carolina outdoors, and east coast beaches. While we are no longer living on the road, we are continuing to seek out new adventures and continue crossing off our bucketlist one weekend at a time. And who knows - maybe we'll end up back on the road someday!

Thanks for following along.
